Brief History


1999 the year when Mr. M. B. Roat burried the seed of humanity and came forward with the hope of helping our blind brothers and sisters by seeing the war of race to move forward in which the people without eyes lack back-ward and can be seen in the backward class.So he took the decision and focused his dimensions towards the life of visually impaired people.

In 2002 Mr. Roat became the founder trustee of Blind Organization Of India, the organization which is tremendously focussed on the welfare of blind people and their family since the day one.With the founder trustee two more people Mr M.A Tahir and SMT.Asha Nair lead the organization and gave hand to hand support with the executive council of 3 members and the support of workers and sympathizers of the blind.These determination of people then began the mission to establish BOI, as an icon of boundless services for the blind.

Milestones


2002 - 2018


  • Made a hostel for unsheltered blind person with 25 bed facility.
  • Made a medical center for the first-aid treatment of the blind people, their dependents and also for the other people of this slum area.
  • Purchased a Ambulance oxygen unit to provide free service to blind persons, their dependents and for other poor people.
  • Computer Class for the children of blind people and for the other poor children of this slum area.
  • Distribution of Dry Ration to 8,32,878 poor blind people.
  • Distribution of New Clothes to 2,21,904  poor blind people.
  • Distribution of Woollen Blankets in winter season to 73,968 poor blind people.
  • Education Fee of school/college to 1,264 students.(children of blind)
  • Distributed curriculum items to 3,804 children of blind person.
  • Support in marriages of 32 blind girls and  576  daughters of blind persons.
  • Provided Employment to 3,236 blind persons..
  • Provided Folding Canes to 73,968 blind persons..
  • Provided Financial Support for house repair to 3,840  blind persons..
